Questions

EYELASH
EXTENSIONS

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are individual synthetic, silk, faux mink or siberian fur minks lashes. They are attached to your eyelashes individually and not to your skin. It is a very enhancing beauty service and you do NOT need to use mascara while wearing these Eyelash Extensions. It is a very meticulous and intense service that requires skill and precision. Once properly applied, these lashes are so natural looking it is difficult to tell even up close that you have extensions on. We offer 30 different unique lash options to customize your look. Our lashes offer 6 degrees of curl, 5 different thicknesses, and 16 different lengths. They are virtually weightless.

Will it damage my natural lashes?

If the technician is not properly trained and qualified, Eyelash Extensions could possibly damage your lashes–leaving you with ugly “bald spots.” The Eyelash Extension process is meticulous; your results depend first on the skill of your technician and, secondarily, the product used. There are people who call themselves Eyelash Extension specialists, but who have not actually obtained training, much less are they certified. Even if they are certified, very few “extensionists” do eyelashes more than once a month. This procedure is new to the United States and not yet regulated, which makes it easy for unscrupulous opportunists to call themselves Eyelash Extension specialists. Don’t be fooled! Do your research. Ask for before/after photos of actual clients of their own. Ask to see their certification. Ask to see their cosmetologist or esthetician license. Many salons use manufacturer “stock” photos…so the photos aren’t representative of what the salon’s skill level is.

How long do the eyelashes last?

It is totally an individual process. The Lashes will stay on your lashes for your remaining natural lash life; A normal lash growth/shed cycle is 30-60 days. Most people shed natural lashes at a rate of 1-2 lashes, per day, per eye. We also grow a new lash to replace the one that fell out. These Lashes can stay on up to 60 days with proper care and forever with monthly maintenance. However, general after care will affect how long the lashes last.

Can I wear mascara with my eyelashes?

These Lashes naturally darken your lashes, your lashes will look vivid and mascara is NOT necessary. Rubbing directly on the lashes, or using mascara remover will weaken the bonding. This may also twist the extensions or make them fall out. We strongly recommend that you avoid wearing mascara, curling and rubbing your Eyes or pulling the Eyelash Extensions, however you may wear water-soluble mascara if desired.

Can the eyelashes be removed?

Yes, at any time and for any reason. They can be easily removed by a Vedette Beauty & Skincare extensionist. Please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own—you can damage your natural lashes this way.

What should I do before my Eyelash Extension appointment?

  1. Remove all eye makeup and clean your lashes with mild, oil free cleanser or our lash artist will do it for you.

  2. Please don’t use oil based makeup removers to clean your lashes prior to the application.

  3. Please don’t put on any mascara the day of your appointment; we’d rather spend your time working on perfecting your lashes.

  4. Please remove contact lenses and wear glasses to your appointment, or bring a lens case and remove them when you arrive at your appointment.

  5. Plan to set aside 2 to 3 hours for your full set appointment & 1 hour for your fill appointment. Many of our clients fall asleep during the procedure. They are always amazed when they wake up with gorgeous looking lashes.

After-Care—I got my lashes! Now what?

The first 24 hours following your application are most crucial. Care must be taken not to rub your eyes, pull your lashes, or scratch. Also, any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing oils can loosen the bond of the lash extensions. Care must be taken to apply eye cream sparingly with avoidance of the lash line area. In the shower, you should avoid direct water spray on your extensions, do not allow use a steam bath, swim, or wash your face directly with hot water during your initial 24 hours of the application. It is not necessary to use an eyelash curler, your Eyelash Extensions will curl your lashes; do not use a regular Eyelash curler, it may break both the lash extension and your natural lashes. Do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face, gently clean around the Eyes with a lint free applicator or fingers. Do not pull on your lash extensions, it may take out your own natural lash as well.

What happens if a lash should loosen or become dislodged?

Do not pull on the lash; contact Vedette Beauty & Skin care to make an appointment to have them replaced. As your natural lashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need fills every 2-3 weeks as your new lashes grow in. As your natural lashes become accustomed to the extensions and with a little practice maintaining the lashes, the time between refills can be extended.

How long is the Eyelash Extension application time?

Application time can vary depending on the “look” you are trying to achieve. Please block 2 1/2 hours from your schedule for your initial application. On average a full set can take up to 2-3 hours or less.

Can I have caffeine before my appointment time?

MicroNeedling

How does microneedling work?

The device we use has multiple microscopic needles that penetrate the surface layers of skin in a very precise manner. These micro-injuries to the skin stimulate the body’s natural immune response to produce new collagen and elastin – the support system of healthy skin. As the treated area heals, smoother and healthier-looking skin appears.

We use microneedling techniques for application of topical gel or PRP (Plasma Reach Platelets). Platelets in your blood contain numerous growth factors that stimulate proliferation of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Natural collagen production fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, even pore size while hyaluronic acid has been shown to increase skin tone and volume providing a more youthful appearance. The MicroPen™ can also be used with Hyaluronic Acid and other peptide gels.

What can I expect?

A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen. A thin layer of topical gel will be applied to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs will be chosen. Next, in a single motion, the pen is gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. Treatment time depends on the size of the treatment area and usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The redness may take anywhere from 24 hours to 4 days to go away. The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes. Utilizing PRP post treatment will speed up the healing process.

When will I see the results?

Visible improvements to the treated area begin to appear over 2 to 3 weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months following treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require 1 treatment each year. For optimal results, we recommend to receive a series of 3 treatments at intervals of 3 to 6 weeks. More severe or advanced conditions, such as scars or deeper wrinkles, can require up to 8 sessions at 6 weeks intervals.

What is microneedling with PRP?

In simple terms the positive anti-ageing activity of your blood comes from the platelets. These platelets contain an anti-clotting property that enable cells to adhere to each other when an injury occurs. Once the blood is taken from you it is put into a machine that separates the active anti-clotting element to be injected into the skin. The needle creates the ‘injury’ by puncturing the skin and the platelets go about the business of building a platform of clot. The result is a series of growth actions leading to new blood vessel formation, cell and collagen growth and tissue repair. Once this miraculous series of growth factors are activated the resulting skin condition smooths lines, restores glow and tightens skin condition.
